Kamiya is first hand-drawn using an HB pencil, then developed primarily with colored pencils. Markers and other traditional art supplies are selectively used to enhance details and texture.

Once completed, the drawing is photographed and refined through light digital painting and color enhancement, using image-based digital tools. Lighting and contrast are adjusted so the colors translate on screen as closely as possible to how they appear in person.

The images shown here present the sketches in their original, in-process state, before final presentation.

COLLECTIBLE BOX CONCEPT

This section presents a conceptual mockup of the KAMIYA collectible box, inspired by the Japanese omikuji (おみくじ) fortune box.

In the KAMIYA world, characters embody different emotional states and spiritual dualities. Some bring blessings through fortune bags, while others carry symbolic objects that represent inner conflict and lessons. The act of opening the box is designed to feel ceremonial, echoing the quiet anticipation of opening an omikuji at a shrine.

Drawing from Shinto symbolism, the box is envisioned with a hexagonal, cylindrical form and a golden wood–inspired texture, evoking traditional temple aesthetics while remaining suitable for collectible packaging.

This mockup focuses on expressing the core form, symbolism, and ritual feeling of the packaging, bringing the concept to life before full production detailing.

The vertical typography and decorative accents reinforce the idea of the box as part of a ritual, rather than merely a container.

Pop Mart — Appreciation & Dialogue

This project was shaped in dialogue with the contemporary designer toy landscape. I hold deep appreciation for the craftsmanship, storytelling, and emotional world-building that brands like Pop Mart have brought to modern collectible culture.

KAMIYA was created with the belief that collectibles can carry meaning beyond form through small rituals, moments of surprise, and emotional resonance. I would be honored to explore how KAMIYA might one day live within the world of collectible storytelling.
